If you require support please contact your nearest Children's Centre.

Anyone can refer a family to Home-Start Milton Keynes, including themselves. However,we can only accept referrals where families have at least one child under five, and live within the local authority area of Milton Keynes. Please look at our map for more detailed location details.

Agency Referral

If you work for an agency and are interested in referring a family to Home-Start Milton Keynes for support, we suggest that after ensuring that the family lives within the area covered by Home-Start Milton Keynes (check our map) you:

1. Look at our PDF leaflet: Working together to support families – a referrers’ guide to the UK’s leading family support service
2. Ask the family's permission for you to contact Home-Start Milton Keynes.
3. Complete a referral form, giving details of the family's situation. Please contact us if you would like a referral form sent either by post or email.

Family/Friend Referral

Are you a parent or a friend/relative of a parent who is experiencing a stressful time and in need of support from Home-Start Milton Keynes? If so, please ring 01908 230030 or email us for further information on making a referral.

Additional support

Home-Start Milton Keynes currently facilitates family groups which run weekly. Please click here for more information. These groups are only for familes who are formally referred to Home-Start and are not a drop-in facility.

Please note that:

• Home-Start has a limited number of volunteers who speak languages other than English.  Therefore our support to families who do not speak English may be limited.
• A Home-Start co-ordinator will make three attempts to contact a family once a referral has been made.  If we are unable to contact a family, the file will be closed and the referrer will be notified.
• Home-Start will carry out a risk assessment at the initial visit where the safety in the home will be assessed in view of the suitability of a volunteer visiting (ie domestic violence, drug and alcohol abuse, smoking, unsuitable pets and visitors to the house etc).
