New!
Home-Start to close on
31 March 2012!
After 15 consecutive years'
service to the community and after helping nearly 1300 families we will
be closing on 31 March 2012 when our current contract with Milton Keynes
Council expires.
We have received amazing support
since we announced we were 'at risk' and many people have signed our
e-petition. Click here
if you still wish to 'sign' the petition and to read some of the lovely
testimonials that have been posted.
Thank you for your support
over the past 15 years.

Risk of
Closure
Home-Start is at risk of closure
in Milton Keynes from 1st April 2012 following Milton Keynes Council's
decision not to support our work with core funding. Unless the
Council can be persuaded to change its mind, Home-Start in MK will
take no new referrals from January. MK Council "Early
Help" resources will be directed towards families with children
aged 5-18 years, planning to support those with under 5s through the
Children's Centres only.
We have written to all families,
volunteers and referrers and welcome your support: if you wish to
petition your local Councillors and MP, please do so - contact us
if you need any help. See our Impact
Document for details of the impending lost value to the community.
This has been sent to all Councillors and our two local MPs.
We are devastated.

Home-Start in Milton
Keynes
Our Vision: "Befriending families in Milton Keynes
– supporting parents to give their children a safe, healthy and happy
start in life"
Home-Start Milton Keynes supports families who
are finding it difficult to cope with the stresses of bringing up a young
family. Trained volunteers, who are parents themselves, visit and support
families in their own homes. They offer time, friendship and help with
the everyday difficulties that parents with young children face. The support
is available to a parent or carer with at least one child under 5, provided
they meet the required criteria.
Home-Start Milton Keynes, based in
Central Milton Keynes, was opened in 1996.
Home-Start featured on BBC
3 Counties Radio in October 2009 - click

and one of our families who was brilliant so early in the morning!
